Feral Friday: Feeding Time

In 1993, I traveled to Costa Rica with a group of students for a study-abroad summer semester at the Universidad Nacional de Heredia. We landed in San Jose, then went to Alajuela to spend the night before meeting our host families in Heredia.

As we wandered around Alejuela, we came upon a (very cute!) man feeding a sloth in a park near our hotel. Neither the man nor the sloth seemed to think the moment was noteworthy, but it captivated me and my friend Satasha who took this charming–and fairly feral–photo.

I especially like his (her?) little sloth-tongue hanging out in anticipation of the treat!
